Quick bite, cheap – This and Osha are my two fave thai restaurants in the tendernob/polk street area. great eating place for after a late night movie. Unfortunately, this place has changed their hours and closes a bit early now (i think it's at midnight or something ridiculously early like that). Food's great - love the fried chicken over garlic rice, seafood pad see ew and panang curry with beef! Their sticky rice with mango is also very good. Be sure to try the thai iced-tea flavored ice cream with your fried banana for de... read more
Thai for Thai – This place really satisfies Thai taste buds like mine, and my Thai friends who live in the city. Service is bleh, but I guess I shouldn't expect smiles for 14 dollar meal. Prompnest isn't a problem, though. The 'kaow-ka-moo' (translates to rice with pork thigh) tastes exactly like something you would get out of a Thai restaurant in the middle of Bangkok. the Tom-yum (traditional thai spicy soup) here is also very good. If you want food just as good, but in a nicer area (Thai House Express is located in San Fr... read more
User review by snukunkit – I'm Thai and all I want to say is this is my favorite Thai place in the city. Good authentic Thai food!
Hands down, best Thai in SF – Best thai food in SF. Full of flavor and heat, the way thai food should be. Awesome green curry, best beef salad and surprisingly good fried chicken. I've tried a lot on the menu and their daily specials, and I have yet to have a dish that did not satisfy. It's definitely a family run restaurant with family style cooking. Best to bring a large group, order some thai beer and try everything on the menu! And if you can take the heat, ask for it "thai hot" and the hold back.
Staff is always friendly to me... – True, they're very busy. However, the staff has always been very friendly to me. I usually order to go, and whenever I'm ready, whomever happens to be closest has always been willing to take my order. It always comes up faster than they say, and consistently good. I like to Thai Veggie Egg Roles the best. One more thing, spicey spicey actually means SPICEY (this is a good thing for me)!!!
extremely rude service – I had a misunderstanding with a to go order, after which the manager was extrememly rude and told me that "because of me he would have to pay for this". I appologized for the misunderstanding and yet he continued to berate me even though i have been a regular customer for some time 9I work right around the coner). I will not be going back. There are 50 other Thai restaurants within the surrounding 3 blacks so there is no reason to expose myself to such negativity and rude behavior.
Best Authentic Thai in SF – Rather than the cloyingly sweet "Farang" Thai that characterizes so many Bay Area Thai restaurants, Thai House is the real deal. Try the Sum Tom first and get a sense of what you're in for. Next give the stewed pork leg a try - check. Ok how's the curry? Wow it's good. Lets try the crispy catfish, damn it's pretty good too. You get the idea. Unlike so many wildly inconsistent Thai places with wierd ideas about thai staples - T. H. E. comes correct.
