0/10, DO NOT RECOMMEND Hotel prices for a half-baked Hostel experience This place is a joke. This is not a hotel, it is a hostel. Not only is it a hostel, they charge a hidden amenities fee at check in and lie about what its for. They tried to claim it was the hospitality fee required by the city of San Diego. That, however, was already paid in the booking through the website. Then, they called it an amenities fee to cover the billiards room, a room with breakfast snacks and a coffee maker in the room. I recently stayed at Hotel Zindel for a recent trip; and whilst the room was nice - the check-in process was quite difficult. I completed my pre-check in and was provided with 2 codes; 1 for the main door and another for the shared bathroom - but not one for the actual room. The code wasn't included and email reply was slow, so I had to download an app to text within the US to contact them; WhatsApp would be extremely helpful for foreign travellers like myself.
Hotel super cool hotel. BUT there was loud music playing in the game room all night evening though no one was there. Mind you it was Thursday night. No way to turn off. It was playing in the hotel speakers?!
We recently stayed at the new Hotel Zindel and loved our experience! The biggest draw for us was the self-check and the location. We loved being able to stay in Little Italy and walk to all of the iconic restaurants, the farmers market and bars without worrying about parking. Plus it's pretty central to all of the other major attractions surrounding San Diego. The rooms were cool and cozy, and I loved that we had a little mini kitchen situation in ours.
