Beacon is excellent – This hotel has suprisingly high standards concidering the very moderate prices. Fresh rooms with mini-kitchens, safe neighbourhood, close to subway etc. Plus: just across the street from fantastic Fairway food market! Also close to shops like Sephora, Urban Outfitters, Barnes and Nobles and loads of others. I would definitely come again!
Excellent choice – This is a great choice for those searching for the lower-priced hotels that don't want to share a bathroom. If you're staying for a whole week, consider the suites (buying food at the market across the street and cooking it in our kitchenette was a delight...and a money saver!) The neighborhood is extremely safe, and the hotel is very close to the subway. Close to Central Park and the heart of the Upper West Side.

The Beacon is a GEM!!! – The Beacon is truly a charming place to call "home" when we stay in New York. It has large well-appointed rooms and suites and a friendly, accomodating staff. Their rates are on the low side of moderate in comparison to other hotels nearby. I would recommend it to anyone. 9 – Second time staying in one of the suites at Hotel Beacon and very satisfied. Appreciated the kitchen area, the grocery across the street, and being close to Zabars! Would not hesitate to stay there again, especially with a family.
