We have been Chautauqua County residents, all our lives.... I inquired with Hospice regarding, transferring my Husband to Hospice . I inquired about Insurance coverage, my Husband had Veterans Insurance. Chautauqua Hospice DOES NOT ACCEPT VETERANS INSURANCE.... He had been Hospitalized in St.Vincents Hospital in Erie, multiple times, over the past 2 years.. From January to March 2025 > he deteriorated significantly.... Hospice was awful. I dad left HAMOT hospital at 8:45am by ambulance to come home under hospice care. Around 9:15am I started recieving calls from hospice saying they would not be able to come see him, we would have to wait another day. I told them it was unaceptable and they needed to figure it out and just show up. My dad would need their care. They called again. Very professional and caring staff. Frank yet sensitive discussions every step of the way. They kept us informed about what they were doing and why they were doing it, and what to expect from day to day. At the end of the process they had become like family to us.
