Our experience with Kindred was wonderful until Dr. Hussein left and the new doctor took away my wife's pain medication and put her on Tramadol, which does her no good. This has been going on for about a month and a half. It started when my wife was experiencing a more than normal amount of pain. She call Kindred complaining about the problem, and her nurse just told her to take more of her Norco 10s if she needed to. We had kindred Hospice for my mother in law and they were absolutely amazing. The nurse Kathy went above and beyond her normal duties to make sure my mother in law was taken care of and our family. The chaplain Teri made so many visits to ensure we were grieving appropriately even after the passing. We still keep in touch and the entire office staff really cares. They are very knowledgeable in how dementia decline takes place. Hats off to you All ! You were all amazing!
My experience with Kindred was horrible. It was through Kindred Hospice while taking care of my dying father. It took hours for a nurse to arrive on the last two days before he died. The weekend nurse had to drive over three hours from their home to get to our house so we were alone while he died. It has been almost four months and I haven't received even one call or letter of follow-up or aftercare or counseling like they promised. My father was admitted into hospice care on Thursday. No assessment was done until Monday. My father passed away on Tuesday morning. I saw a nurse on Sunday when we called begging for pain medication. My father suffered a heart attack at home with no pain medication. The nurse handed over the morphine and Ativan with no assessment of my father..no vital signs...no lung sounds. I, being a nurse, have done the assessment and know what he needs.
