Haven't been to Hookseys since the change in management. Decided to try their fish & chips. Ordered portion of 2 Haddock & Chip for $33.00 plus 2.8% for use of credit card! Worst fish & chips I've ever had. Both pieces of fish were cut too thin and dry. Chips were overcooked and looked sickly brown. Will never set foot in there again!! If I could award 2 negative stars I would.
This has been our favourite spot since we moved to whitby a few years ago, but our last two orders have been switched to freezer fries that are several steps down from the normal fries. We usually order twice a week, but I won't order again until this is rectified :( hoping to be able to give a positive update to this review later on.
I Ordered 4 of the haddock and fries lunch specials to treat my family....it was 90% batter 10% fish. Half of each fish portion was inedible....it was hard as a rock...overcooked batter!! The fries were overcooked battered freezer fries....not what one expects from a restaurant specializing in fish and chips. The best part of the meal was the can of diet coke. 75% of the "food" went in the garbage. So disgusting and disappointing and embarrassing to serve that to my family. A lot of sad faces 😔
Ordered from door dash ...it was late and we were just 1 km away. The food was horrid! A sliver of whitefish with a tun of overfried batter that was too hard to crunch through. Cheap packs of tarter and just w packs for a double order. WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!
