eat here and impress friend You can tell it's an authentic Japanese place when the majority customers are Japanese. They have wide selection of choice, but can be confusing if it's your first time. Best Japanese restaurant in California possibly This is the best! There's nothing more to say about this restaurant. It has good traditional Japanese food, and all of it's good. There's quite a wait, but still worth it. Yes, it's that good.
Meat on sticks Honda YA is the only restaurant open in Tustin up to 1:00am in the morning. From the time of opening at 5:30pm there is a waiting list, but it's always best to get there early to enjoy the best Japanese food in the OC. You'd think you were in Japan based on the quality of the food and attentiveness of the waiters and waitresses. My love the exotic sushi selection and most of all meat on the sticks.
As close to Japan as ypu can get in OC After living 6 years in Japan, I have found Honda-ya to be the closest thing to an authentic Japanese izakaya in Orange County (Shinsengumi is good, too, but it's in Torrance). Sushi is not the specialty here. This is a great place to go for yakitori, ramen, and a chuuhai or draft beer. In the usual izakaya style, you can order a la carte as you drink. So so Japanese restaurant... The food is average, service is good but if you don't understand a bit of Japanese this place can be confusing. It really caters to Japanese speakers... Parking is easy and although we ate early (around 5:30pm) we were about the only ones in there. Not kid-friendly.
Get there early! The line to get in is long...every night! Probably one of the most popular sushi establishments in Orange County, these guys know how to serve it up raw!
