PLEASE DO THE MATH! We were considering a HomeTap equity investment and discovered just how predatory the terms really are. We were interested in $41K (less than 15% of our home equity) — and in return, they would take up to 50% of our home’s future value if we settled after 7–10 years. That’s more than DOUBLE what they gave us, with no cap on repayment! If you can’t buy them out or refinance in time, you're forced to sell or face foreclosure.
