I have waited two months since my husband’s death so I would have a clear head to write this review. He died peacefully at home without a Homestead Hospice.nurse by his side. In fact, it was just family with him, and the hospice personnel hadn’t seen him for the 2 days prior. a lot of deception on the corporate level. The patients and field staff are being cheated. I am a current employee who is seeking another position.
Writing this review, I have very mixed feelings. Many of the nurses and social workers we worked with were incredibly helpful and kind. I don't want to diminish these folks in any way. However, there were some significant issues with my brother's care. First off, I had to hound them CONSTANTLY to keep his prescriptions filled for pain meds. After working with a marginal hospice group in VA with my dad, I have been blessed to have Homestead Hospice helping me with my mom. The folks who help care for her call me weekly to give updates and they have helped me advocate for her needs. They respond quickly if something is wrong or I have a question. I highly recommend them!
October 26, 2017 My sister basically bled to death at HOME!!!!! She was throwing up blood all night, they came the next day and gave her a suppository ??????????? and left her!! They never came back to check on her and she died the next morning in a nasty HOSPITAL emergency room bed!!!! This company should be ashamed of themselves. A corporate hungry company. I admitted my mother under their care. In the beginning we were awed and swept off our feet. I was skeptical at first, because one of their representatives was bad mouthing other hospices in the building my mother was at.
