Home of the Good Shepherd (HGS) has served our family twice. Once on the assisted living side for my father, and once for my sister who had early-onset Parkinsons disease on the Memory Care side. In both cases, the staff and management of HGS developed relationships with my family. And not only patient-caregiver relationships, but true loving, family relationships. The staff truly cared about my mother. On Sundays they would get her dressed for Church and my father would pick her up. Everything is well organized. Her room was clean, she was always clean and had her nails polished. My mom went to all the activities. She didn't have any complaints about the food. They check on the resident every 2 hours. We knew she was in a safe place.

Our family visited several memory care facilities between Albany and Glen Falls. Home of the Good Shepherd in Saratoga Springs clearly stood out compared to the others. The rooms and common areas provide a comfortable, home-like atmosphere. They might have a waiting list, but it's worth the wait and I would encourage families of prospective memory residents to begin your search before the actual need arrives. I have found the Home of the Good Shepherd to be an excellent placement for my sister, who is living with dementia. Under the direction of Kristen Cashman, the staff is warm, caring, kind and ever patient with the residents. My sister has been in their care for eighteen months, and I have never had reason to complain. The facility is modern, welcoming, and very clean.
