I SO wanted to give these guys a great review but I can't. Our 2010 Forester threw a rod back in June and we had it towed to Holman, a local shop with a good reputation. We knew that the vehicle would be rendered useless if we didn't replace the engine, so we opted for a low mileage used engine imported from Japan. Except that we didn't get that. Two years ago, my friend in Shakopee told me about Mike( owner of Holman Auto in Eden Praire ) repairs Mercedes Benz (others) at most reasonable price. Sure enough he was more than reasonable than the dealership. Now, my son, my aunt, my sister in law n good friend all go to him. Mike will not, repeat will not do any work if it is not need "why fix it if its running good" is his thinking. He would rather repair than replace. Mike thanks for the nice Job, keep it up, you are indeed a peoples mechanic. Ram

Awesome and Honest! – Took my very old 99 Explorer in to this shop for the first time last week after another shop told me I needed things fixed that I was not sure about-had to get that 2nd opinion! The owner, Mike, reviewed each item carefully and called me with the good news that I just needed one thing fixed-a tie rod! I was relieved as I didn't have much $$ to spend. Great work - Great Price - No Problems – I have used Mike for both my cars recently. He and i talked about what needed to be done and when I could expect it. He did everything he was supposed to - on time - and for a fraction of other service centers.

disorganized - won't get back to you ... – I agree with John121... mike used to be good but he is totally disorganized now ... called a couple weeks ago - scheduled time to drop it off ... he had it 4 days and kept telling me he would get to it and never did - got tired of waiting and picked it up after 4 days. Mike now has several young guys working for him and I think is in over his head. He is good and honest but he does not follow through or get back to you so good luck if you leave your car with him. Worst experience – I called this person 10 days back and he gave me appointment for 10 days later and asked me to drop the car before 9 AM. I dropped the car at 8:45 AM and left the place. I was waiting for the callback till 1:30 PM. I called and Mike lift the phone and telling still they didn't touch the car. It will take some more time. I went back to shop at around 5 PM and he said you have to come back by Monday. Its pretty disappointing and frustrating. I never recommend anyone to go to this mechanic. A few years ago a friend told me about Mike - since then I've never gone anywhere else! He is busy - an appointment is necessary - there can be a wait - but he is SUPER talented -has very FAIR prices - and most importantly is- HONEST! My car is a wreck - Mike assures me he will tell me the day when it is no longer worth it to repair the car - but he is certain there is another 20,000 miles in it. From good experience to pretty bad – We've taken our cars to Holman for some time and, generally, things have been fine. But recently I had to rethink things. They remounted a tire that had a slow leak, and the tire completely failed the next day, resulting in a ruined tire. No one could find any problem with the tire -- later, I found out that the rim had some corrosion that needed to be removed, corrupting the seal -- and Holman wouldn't accept any responsibility for the tire failure. Honest Shop with Great Prices! – I took my Honda to Holman for the first time based on other reviews on this site. I've had some bad experiences with several Citysearch "top rated" shops, so I'm always a little skeptical when I try a new mechanic. I'm so glad I gave Holman a chance!!! I finally found a good, honest, reasonably priced mechanic in the Twin Cities! Holman fixed exactly what needed to be fixed and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need.
