I cannot express how much Holland-Bloorview has helped my daughter in many ways . I would like to mention all of the Dr's/team/ staff/Nurses names but it was a big team. GUAG helped my daughter tremendously and we will never forget how much helped they have done for my daughter to manage her chronic pain. Don't go to the GUAG program thinking you will be leaving cured but they will definitely help you leave managing your pain much better. Worst rehab for kids. This is a kids rehab center. They need sleep and make sure their patents are happy with their child sleeping in peace. I'm stuck here with my 4 year old while my 7 year old is pressured to sleep alone. She's only 7. They don't have separate rooms for KIDS. THEY ARE KIDS. Sharing space with another child is brutal. Children don't understand this. I don't know why they made they this rehab like this but please don't trust the nurses to leave your child alone. I found the entire situation very invalidating. Doctors were very judgmental and my daughter still struggles with memories of the experiences there. Specifically with Dr. Orosino. Will not go into details but to put it mildly it was over two years ago and the experience still sits in my mind.
We had the greatest therapist, tech support was amazing. But when we had issues where the school violated our child’s human rights they 100% took the schools side and did not support our child. The school needed so much more AAC training and Holland Bloorview released our son to wolves without reservation. We can never forgive them for that. They have a process you can request with your child’s records called a lockbox. I would definitely look into that.
