As a result "Iwa ya" is way better. I think it is not same owner anymore. Lunch special is ok but Some of food price is more expensive, crew is not friendly as before. They also charge soup for togo $4.50. Iwa ya is free.
The atmosphere at Hokkaido is very nice and calming, and everything moves pretty quickly without feeling rushed. The customer service is friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall experience. I really liked the complimentary soups they offer, especially the corn and miso, but the red bean soup was my favorite. I’d definitely come back again if I’m in the mood for something warm and comforting in a peaceful setting.
We’ve been coming to this little Japanese spot in Chinatown off Bellaire for almost 18 years now—basically since before we got married and had kids. The setup is simple: order at the counter, grab a table, and help yourself to water, utensils, and one of my favorite touches—the complimentary miso soup.
