Prairie City and the Prairie City Hotel is my new "Get away from the BS"
Never saw anyone from the hotel staff. We arrived at 6.45 pm, they were gone. We left at 9.30 am, no one there. The breakfast room has a sign that states the breakfast times. We were looking forward to a good breakfast, only to find the room locked. There is no place in town to get any breakfast, so we left hungry. Also, the room faced the Main Street and it seems that most of the traffic there are overly loud pick up trucks and semis.
We had such a lovely stay at this adorable little hotel! Staff were always friendly whenever I called with questions. The decor is cute and quaint, with thoughtful touches that made it feel warm and welcoming. We arrived after hours when the office was closed but check in was a breeze. One of the best parts was how dog-friendly it is, they even left a sweet little care package for our pups, which we really appreciated. Nice rooms that were also very clean, but the street noise was way too loud to get a good nights sleep. Lots of trucks pulling through town using their air breaks, and lots of dogs barking starting in the early morning. I could also hear the people on the street having a conversation at a normal volume from the second floor. Loved the room and the staff was beyond helpful, but the noise from the street was rough.
