The Hippodrome Theatre is the centerpiece of theFrance-Merrick Performing Arts Center, holding all of the center's shows. Located just three blocks away from the University of Maryland, this performing arts theater is a true gem of the city. This Vaudeville theater was built in 1914 and designed by Thomas White Lamb, one of the most prominent theater architects of his time. Over the years the theater went through various transformations, from a movie theater to a performing arts venue that it is today.

Beautiful theatre, orchestra section had great view but a little tight seating. A gentleman next to me who frequents the theatre said that the balcony is even more tight. They won't attend if they can't get orchestra seating.
I was in a seat where I could not move my legs. It was very uncomfortable. I could not see the stage because a tall man was sitting in front of me. Was very disappointed.
They need to do something about the seats in the theater for people that are talk and short with bad knees it is not enjoyable. They make enough money to have upgraded those 1960's seats. On the other hand the show was great. I loved Stomp.
Always enjoy seeing a show at the Hippodrome, even if the seats seem a bit constrained.
Hippodrome Theatre has a 4.6 star rating with 1,022 reviews.
Hippodrome Theatre is closed now. It will open on Monday at 11:00 a.m.
