Helpful staff
Although I just had a very negative experience there, I love Hingham Lumber overall (which is why I’ve given the lukewarm rating) I bought a snow blower (Ariens) there several years ago, and have had it serviced there a few times. But near the end of this winter the blower’s drive wouldn’t engage, so I had Hingham Lumber pick up & service. Got it back months later (they said they’d tried to call earlier ?). I was looking to match an existing deck board that I was told was purchased at Hingham Lumber. Person I spoke with in contractor sales was about as rude as could be and seemed to be trying to get me off the phone as fast as possible. I have been in the building and remodeling industry for 15 years and this was one of the worst interactions I have had with a sales representative. There was no effort to help and spoke down to me. If I could give 0 stars I would.
Best hardware store around. If they don't have it, you don't need it.
If you can't stand the impersonalness and cavernous feel of a big box store, come to Hingham Lumber instead. Plenty of friendly, knowledgeable sales help. Right on Rt 3A in Cohasset - they moved from Hingham when the Greenbush commuter rail line was resurrected. And they're back to giving out free small bags of freshly popped popcorn on Saturdays! They carry Ego electric battery lawn mowers and weed wackers and service them in-shop, too.
