We have stayed at this hotel in Carlsbad several times before, but this last visit really disappointed. The location is great, right in front of the ocean. But when we arrived, I had already paid for the hotel stay through a third party and for whatever reason, my fiancee was charged another cost by the hotel. He did not receive any receipt or email regarding the extra cost of over 140$. I checked into Hilton Garden Inn late night and woke up before 5 am to get ready for work only to discover there was no hot water in the hotel. It was frustrating not to have been informed in advance, and I ended up having to take a quick cold shower before heading to work. What made the difference, however, was how the situation was handled. The hotel manager, Andrew, was professional, responsive, and genuinely concerned about making things right.
