I went here when I was 15. I was supposed to be here only three days and it ended up being seven. There was a girl having a breakdown and they took her shoes from her knowing she doesn’t want her personal belongings being touched and they were screaming at her. Also when it was my discharge date my mom was supposed to show up by a certain time and two hours had passed by or more and I was concerned. We have visited Highland-Clarksburg Hopital twice, and have found the staff & facility to be exceptional in quality, compassion & professionalism. From the greeting at the front desk, we were warmly welcomed; and each employee we interacted with was kindly helpful & thoughtfully engaged in their treatment role.

This is not our first visit to a state-run psychiatric facility, but it is our best. This was our initial visit with our adult son who is a patient at the hospital. We were greeted by Dr. Goodykoontz, who is the Chief Medical Officer of the facility. There was some initial minor confusion about the timing of our visit, but Dr. Goodykoontz excused herself for a few moments and untangled whatever snarl had developed. This place needs to work on its communication skills. My fiancé was sent here when we were 17. I was on his call list, but they refused to let me talk to him. Even after his state worker told them to. Stated that I had to be 18+ to talk to him.
