Reserved a mini van several weeks in advance. Got to the Hertz desk just before opening time (8 am); so I was their first customer. There were 2 associates behind the desk and after a few minutes, it was clear, they could not find the key to the van. They looked everywhere; they called someone for help, but the key was nowhere to be found. After an hour, they found the key! Where? In the same drawer, they had checked dozens of times. Gave away our car with no call or warning. Left us stranded. Terrible customer service.
This is my second time attempting to rent from Hertz and the second time they have not delivered. I rented an SUV online. The morning of my reservation, they call to let me know they don't have the SUV. They offer to call me in 4 hours to let me know if they could get one from another location. 4 hours! I need to be on the road in 4 hours. The first time I tried to rent with Hertz, I paid for my entire reservation at the time of booking. Do not rent from here. Use Turo instead. In June I spent over an hour waiting to pick up my vehicle. They gave me the wrong directions to find my vehicle so I had to go back and wait in line again. When I finally got my vehicle, it was smaller than what I reserved. Hertz still hasn’t issued me a refund for the difference. I’ve had great luck with Turo. I’ll never rent from a rental car company again.
