Rented a car and paid for it already. I was late to pick up by 90 minutes and was informed they gave up my car. To get a car, I had to upgrade and pay additional $50/day. I’m a gold member but beyond that, it’s just poor customer experience. Confirms the many posts here about unjustified fees popping up
Made a reservation, on arrival I was told to either pay more or cancel because they didnt have the car. It would be funny if this would be a Seinfeld episode 30 years ago... but is not. They know how to take reservations, they just dont know how to keep the car. This is confirmed standard practice in HERTZ. They are just waiting for a legal demand to end this game.
Car is not grantees for the pickup time! Plus they charge u $75 cleaning fees as long as they see single pet hair even it’s from the clothes.
I am extremely frustrated with the service here. After booking a vehicle at a specific rate, I received a call claiming they had overbooked, only to be told I could 'upgrade' to a different car at a higher price. This felt like a bait and switch to me. In the rental industry, if a company fails to provide the reserved class due to their own overbooking error, the standard is to provide an upgrade at no additional cost. Forcing the customer to pay for the company’s inventory mistake is unacceptable.
