UPDATE – Response to hotel management: Referring to a large cockroach found inside a hotel room simply as a “tropical insect” is dismissive and misleading. We did not leave because we were frightened by a harmless tropical insect. We left because there was a large cockroach in the first room, while the replacement room offered to us was extremely dirty and did not meet basic standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Great hotel, good amenities, amazing service, and great location - close to the esplanade and shops but not noisy. Would recommend.

This was the worst place we've stayed in Cairns and the least value for money. The photos show how dirty and rundown it is. The furniture is disgusting. The bathroom is awful. The carpet was vile. Have the owners never heard of paint! $225 for the night - just awful. It's a pity because it's close to Munro Martin Parkland and CPAC. Would avoid at all costs. If we'd had time to look for somewhere else and hadn't paid we wouldn't have stayed there.
