I see Dr Schmolck with my 93-year old mother who suffers from Alzheimer's. I was grateful to find a neurologist with expertise, experience and interest in Alzheimer's in Des Moines. Dr Schmolck sees my mother once a year and her nurse will see my mother every six months if we have questions or concerns. When we moved her into an Alzheimer's facility, I continued to see Dr Schmolck with my mother so that we could have a second opinion on how she is doing. Dr. Schmolck is very knowledgeable, is kind & caring and answers all of our questions when we are in her office, with my mother-in-law who has ALS. She is rather difficult to get into so scheduling appointments in advance is helpful.
Wish I could tell you about a visit with this provider but she is mostly unavailable and seems apathetic. Ruan Neurology needs to improve in so many areas.
Dr Schmolck is excellent. She explains well what is going on and the treatment options are a discussion and not just one way from her. She is very busy so getting an appointment with her is challenging, but I'm sure that's just because she has some specialties which drive a lot of patients toward her.
Dr Schmolke is very kind & caring; & you can tell she is truly concerned about you. She actually takes the time to LISTEN to you & always asks if you have questions or concerns at the end of the visit. If she doesn't know the answer to something ~ she will admit it, & when she says she will look up the answer - SHE DOES! The 1 time this happened, she not only looked it up, she told me exactly where she found the answer in a 2 page HANDWRITTEN LETTER she sent me the next day!
