I complete a transaction in May 20011. I was quoted a unit price late one afternoon and delivered the items the next morning, the amount offered was down 8%. I was told that market prices had dropped. I completed the transaction only to find out later that published market price had gone up.

I sell scrap gold and silver on a regular basis and no one locally beats their prices. I weigh my items before I take them in and I check the spot market online. I find them to be very fair.

I sent a friend into Heartfields with a 18 carot gold ring. I asked him to find out what Heartfield would offer for the meltdown value. Heartfield was quoting $933/ ounce or $33.32/gram. According to the merchant, the ring weighed 12 grams which would place the value at approximately $400.00 on the spot market.
