I was sent to Dr. Beth Hoven by the veterans' administration for a disability hearing exam. I had specific written instructions to present any medical information that was pertinent to my hearing loss disability claim to the audiologist when I arrived. When I attempted to do hand the info to her, she refused to accept it, she told me that I couldn't give her anything. I attempted to explain what I had instructions telling me to give this info to her. She still refused to accept it. This was disturbing since the info that I had offered her was pertinent to my hearing loss and disability claim. I didn't want to be confrontational as I thought it might hinder my chances of getting a fair evaluation. When the exam was over, I went to my truck and retrieved the instructions which confirmed that I was to present all pertinent documents to the audiologist upon my arrival at her office. I went back in and asked the receptionist to make a copy of the instructions telling me to present pertinent documents to the Dr.. I wanted to clear the air so she would know that what I told her was accurate and truthful. She overheard me talking to her receptionist and the doctor shouted out from one of the back offices for her not to take it, at which point the receptionist caught up in an awkward situation closed the sliding glass window which separated us in my face. How unprofessional was this whole situation? Extremely! I'm 67 years old and have been in some awkward situations, but this one was terrible! Oh yeah, guess what her recommendation was for my hearing loss claim to the VA. You probably figured it out already "Not recommended". It's a shame she stubbornly refused my documents confirming the weapons noise exposure I had during the Vietnam era as a 17-19 year old handling mortar weapons, grenades, rifles. Very horrific experience, with sad consequences for an old veteran.

My mother is 93 years old and needs her hearing aids adjusted From time to time. I purchased one of the more expensive sets through HPOA.Called today to get an appointment to have my mother’s hearing aids adjusted as I have done so in the past. I was told the earliest they could get to her is January 7th, which is ridiculous. The only option I was given was to drop them off by their office. How is that going to help? She needs to be there in person to make proper adjustments. Beware. Looks like I will have to go back to Auburn University now.
Business Response:

Hi Mr. Torbert, I'm sorry for the inconvenience. As we have encouraged, we are happy to check her devices, but we do not have any in-office appointments available at this time due to the holidays and also our COVID protocols- see our most recent post. We have her on our cancellation list. We certainly do not want her to be without hearing, but again you can utilize our drop off service and they WILL be looked at sometime today by one of the audiologists. Thank you for your understanding and I am sorry if there was some misunderstanding. -Beth Hoven, Au.D.

Dr Hoven is a very professional person. She presents your options with no pressure involved. It is then up to each individual to do what they prefer. Coming from the automotive world, this is a welcomed relief. I would recommend this organization highly..

Dr. Hoven and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They test my hearing and adjust my hearing aid yearly. They also helped me get my new hearing aid that helps me understand people’s voice more clearly in conjunction with my BAHA.
