Absolutely excellent! Having previously worked for a vet, I searched for this kind veterinary care for several years after we moved to Vancouver, I'm so glad I finally found this clinic! Here you'll find a very caring staff and a very skilled, compassionate veterinarian. At this clinic they do not jack up the bill by doing unnecessary testing. This, to me, is key. Dr. Slocum has been with us through several tough situations and his calming presence is always a comfort when your pets are hurting. I'm so thankful to have someone like him in our area!
Excellent diagnostic care I took my cat to Hazel Dell Animal Hospital with a rare hair loss problem and the staff was able to identify the problem and treat him correctly and even pulled out an old vet school textbook to show me photos of cats with similar problems. When I researched the condition on the Internet I discovered that the problem is very rare and easily mistaken for other conditions. Number 1-veterinarian in Clark County I have been going to Dr. Slocum and his staff for 20+years. They are all caring, loving people. My most recent addition "Timmy", the black cat, needed a vet visit after only 2-weeks in my home. He was a very hostile and angry cat about the whole situation. The veterinary staff were kind and patient with him. This is just one example of many successful visits. I highly recommend them for all your small, animal medical needs.
Professional and Caring We have brought our animals here for 13 years, and they are so kind. Even though we moved further away and tried some other places --it is worth the extra drive to go to H D Animal Hosp. The Best! A Real Family Vet. We used to live in the area and this vet was close by... we went there for our Cat and Dog and absolutely loved them. I have been a Vet Tech myself in the past so I understand all the medical terminology... however that is not needed here. Never doing back My fiance and I are new in town and we got a 4 month old boxer mix at the humane society. He got sick, supposedly kennel cough from the vet at Hazel Dell. The staff was nice but the vet was incomepetent in my eyes. He shotgunned out things for him to take to make him better as far as medicines and food without doing any blood tests, x-rays, temperature taking. He didn't seem professional. Just Wonderful Dr Slowcum is the way to go. He is great, doesn't do unnecessary procedures like a lot of the vets in the Vancouver area to rack up your bill and is very helpful to those on a tight budget. My family has been using them for years and I will continue to do so myself.
Friendly Staff, Quick Appointment Not too long ago I had to take my friend's dog in for an emergency leg injury while dog sitting at my friend's house. The doctor and staff at Hazeldell were friendly and helpful. The waiting area and rooms were clean and smelled nice. At a difficult time of panic about my friend's dog this was a friendly and easy place to wait for an appointment.
