I moved into Hawthorne Club Apartments on Saturday, January 23, 2010. My experience has been mostly positive, though I’ve faced some challenges along the way. In my first year, I dealt with a neighbor who repeatedly called the police on me with false accusations about noise and parties. Thankfully, that situation resolved itself when they eventually moved out, and things were peaceful for a while. When I first moved in, rent was affordable at $875 and increased to $950 the next year. The complex was quiet and decent, but things changed after someone set a car on fire, damaging several vehicles. Despite police involvement, management (Hawthorne Club) has not taken action or removed those responsible, who still reside in the complex. They removed the pool, promised new amenities that never came, and raised rent by nearly $100—money seemingly spent on a new truck and office upgrades instead.
