My family has stayed at Hawkeye hotel in Washington IA every year during Old Threshers week, for at least the last 3 years. We had 4 in our party. So we needed 2 rooms. Everything was clean, the rooms are spacious and staff very courteous. We always enjoy our stay there. I haven't had an occasion to use it, but there's a nice gazebo in the yard that looks very inviting. For sure we'll stay there again this year.
The Fairfield Inn is being built by an LLC (somehow connected to Hawkeye Hotels... since it is shown as a current property on the Hawkeye Hotels website) in Spartanburg, SC on St. John St. This hotel is currently and has been for months, soliciting reservations for a hotel that is not open and does not have a firm opening date. Horrible experience at Hampton Inn in Ottumwa...maintenance of the facility is majorly sub-par; thermostats not working, when rigged for a/c/heater to work was super noisy rattle; initial room smelled of mold; second room had another odd odor and insufficient hot water; 3rd room, doors didn't open properly to bathroom, thermostat didn't work, came back at night to room being 52 degrees, etc, etc. Reported all to staff, solution was to change my room at 2:00am... no response from management for all of the issues...this is a s... read more
I booked my hotel a month in advance, and then was emailed less than 10 days before my arrival that the hotel was overbooked and they would happily move my reservation to a hotel 10 miles away from the original hotel. When I asked if there was anything closer they said they would try their best to find me a hotel closer, and then subsequently never got back to me.
