Five-star experience from start to finish. Doctor Carlson helped me manage my pain and navigate my treatment plan, eventually referring me to a top-tier surgeon who was exactly who I needed. The staff is wonderful and makes you feel supported at every turn. If you're looking for a spine specialist who truly cares about your outcome, go here.
The lack of communication and unprofessional behavior on the part of the staff and Dr. Carlson was shocking. Multiple times I did not hear back from the clinic despite being approved by my adjuster. I finally met with him 08/2025 for an initial appointment. On 3/2/26 I was called to schedule a procedure and was unable to attend the date given. The staff ended up scheduling me on 4/9. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Carlson and the team at Hawaii Pain and Spine. From the very beginning, the office staff showed incredible patience and kindness during visits when I was in severe pain — that alone meant more than they probably know. Dr. Carlson truly listens. After a bicycle accident in late 2024 left me with a C5-C6 disc injury, I spent over a year in constant pain, relying daily on a cocktail of OTC meds just to get by. I even tried an ultrasound-guided epidural in California that provided zero relief. Everything changed when I met Dr. Carlson. Run don’t walk as far away as you can get from entering this doctor’s office. He does not care about your pain, because he has no time to listen. No compassion! I just saw my post has been edited to remove how rude this doctor is. His staff recommended that I tell Dr.Carlson about my concerns prior to the lumbar nerve block.
