RecommendedThe smell of daphne reminds me of Haven Corner. There is a big bush that you must walk by to gain entrance to the front door. Before going in to see my mom Evelyn, I would snitch a piece to take in to her room (and one for me on the way out). Many times mom already had some in a vase that Debbie or a caregiver had lovingly provided knowing that mom loved the fragrance. Just a small gesture showing love to one of their residents. Mom is gone now but I will continue to associate the smell of daphne with her and Haven Corner!
Mom was at Haven Corner for almost 3 years, until she peacefully passed last June. It was the perfect place for her to be. We loved the "family" atmosphere. Her caregivers were compassionate and kind, and accurately gauged her level of care and activity needs as her dementia worsened. Mom really enjoyed going out on "joy rides" with Debbie ("The Head Honcho") and other residents, whether it was for a drive in the nearby countryside, Dairy Queen for ice cream or out to PIR for Christmas lights. After our Mom broke her hip twice in 6weeks our family gave me the daunting task of finding a new memory care facility for her. I knew from our first visit with Debbie at Haven Corner it is a wonderful home. Mom’s adjustment time has gone amazingly. I love the caregivers Laura & Cindy . They are kind and respectful of Mom . She is happy and in her haunting speech has told us likes her “homey home”. And she is especially fond of Debbie. I feel that a great weight has been lifted because our Mom has the care she deserves.
I can not recommend Haven Corner enough. Our mother was part of the family there and she was treated with so much love and dignity. Thanks Debbie and Craig. I first met you many years ago when I was working as a hospice nurse. I was so impressed with what I observed. When we need to find a place for our mother you came to her home to see if you and she were a good fit. She loved you and we did as well. It was a peaceful loving home for her last years. My son loves coming and spending time with all the residents as do I and my husband!! We adore the owners, the caregivers are great; as well it's a great environment!
My aunt just spent her last year and half of life with these wonderful care givers. I really can't say enough for how she was treated. She had excellent care along with respect and a lot of love. The home is clean, comfortable, and very inviting. If you are looking for some place for a loved one to spend their later years this would be your best choice.
