A member of the intake team at Haven Senior Horizons called me to offer my family a bed after his case manager informed HSH and other facilities of his need. The initial call was disconnected before I was able to get much information and a second call came in while I was on the other line and a voicemail was left. An additional phone call came in from HSH while I was walking through the ER which I did not take. We were very concerned about my father's behavior and needed to find a hospital that would treat his dementia- he was rapidly declining. We needed help quickly. My sister and I called Haven and they immediately sent out a nurse to interview and assess our Dad. She was wonderful- she was warm and compassionate and explained everything to us as she did the assessment. We were so impressed with her (Karen, the nurse) that we decided to admit Dad to Haven.
