Harvard Credit Union rejected me twice for a student relocation loan, despite my good credit score, no debts, and two years as a member. A good credit score and no debts should have helped my case. I had just finished medical school and needed the loan for career reasons. Working at a Harvard hospital should have counted for something. Online forums like Reddit have similar complaints: the money-driven approach under the new administration. If that's true, then what's the benefit of a credit union? Mixed experiences. I'm glad this bank is offered to Harvard employees, and no-fee accounts are possible. But I've had three issues with them. (1) The new location is not feasible for me to get to; not sure why they left the office located inside the Harvard campus, which was very convenient. (2) The check deposit function on their mobile app does not work for me; not sure why since I can use this for every other bank I belong to. (3) I've always been told to seek loans through a credit union vs. a "big bank", and so I applie... read more
