More Than Just a College Bookstore I love the Harvard Bookstore. It is SO much more than your run-of-the-mill college bookstore. While you can purchase all sorts of Harvard memoribilia, you can also browse tons of books, magazines, musical selections, periodicals and more. More often than not, an author will come in for a reading and/or book signing. These are all open to the public, which is fantastic. PROS: lots to buy, free readings and book signings CONS: NONE
Great service/selection This is one of my all-time favorite bookstore. The staff is very friendly and knowlegeable, the selection is great and there is an extensive basement with wonderful used books.
for the scholar Harvard Bookstore is one of the best independent bookstores in Harvard Square. There are a few big rooms with a wide variety of books. You can find nearly anything here. There is a fantastic selection of books that are by smaller publishers that are somewhat harder to find in big chain stores. The best part of this store is the really great book readings and book signings that they offer.
Harvard Book Store - Harvard Square This is a great bookstore with frequent signings and reading by authors. The downstairs is filled with a constantly changing selectionof used books (which are marked to half of the original sale price). The upstairs is filled with the latest new books. You can also get a frequent buyer card or order online.
Great prices and selection The Harvard Book Store is independent book seller, unafilliated with Harvard University. What's so great about this store is its selection of used and remainder books. It's easy to find great used books at very low prices. The remainders are awesome, brand new books, including history books and even full-cover beautiful art books, at cheap prices. My Favorite Probably one of my favorite places in the world. Here you can find both used and new books, and a fantastic selection of both. The service is great (my cousin works there, so I'm a little biased) and the atmosphere is quite nice. The new books are priced according to the manufacturer, but the used books are quite inexpensive.
intelligent, economic, well-run In addition to a thorough selection of important new releases and NYT Bestseller-type titles, Harvard Bookstore has a great selection of books in academic areas like literary criticism, classics, and political and social theory. (On the whole it's quite heavy on obscure University Press volumes, but that's part of it's duty as a bookstore serving a very intellectual neighborhood). this place is great If you like a great book selection with affordable prices to match, then take to redline over to harvard sqare and spend a couple of hours in this place. Harvard square, of course, is a great place to hang out.
