Please donate: applesauce, pouches of tuna&salmon, hummus, vegetables, salad, fresh tomatoes, oranges, mandarins, dried fruit, lysol spray, hand sanitizer. (Most of the staff, have to work double shifts and work 2 jobs in order to pay their bills) Catholic Charities does an excellent job organizing this shelter. The director is great. - the security guards are really good too. The staff is good.
This shelter needs funding! Donations!! Peanut Butter, Bread, Ramen Cup of Soup, fresh fruits, shampoo, clothes, bedding sheets ! The staff are overworked underpaid. < D.C community is not helping Catholics Charities, who finance this shelter>
The staff are really good. All the staff are respectful, most of them kind & thoughtful. Catholic Charities is the organization that funds&runs this shelter. If you need/are willing to be in "supportive housing" the case management is very efficient, they are available 6 days a week. Catholic Charities is very knowledgeable about supportive housing and running a shelter. -The location is far from anything; but they have bus for transportation in the early morning, to take you to "day centers". I'd rather be in the streets then stay here I mainly came for showers and something to eat.. it's fairly clean but the staff treat you like ur a child with no understanding. they told me I had to leave I made a scene and they said I was fine to stay.. they give you hand soap to wash ur hair and body they give you a paper towel to dry up. Many unstable people here so if ur just down on ur luck I recommend another place. It got scary at times.
