Boycott Harpers – I am being completely honest when I say that the owners of this establishment have violated a number of labor laws and continue to do so. Trish and Pat are the owners of this establishment and I have never in my career as a server encountered two business owners who have more of a a COMPLETE lack of repect for their employees. They force their employees to sit for hours on end while off the clock when they dont have a table. This is ILLEGAL!! I have witnessed Trish and Pat demean and degrade their employees... read more
Harper's Harper's is a great place to hang out. Their rasberry wheat beer is the best! They are also known for their good live music!
great brewed beer, great artichoke chicken, great prices – They have something 1/2 off to eat and drink 7 days a week plus my class reunion was planned on their 1/2 off all food and drink Wednesdays..the price of my bill was ridiculously cheap. For this reason I go almost every Wed. and love the inside entertainment and fun ambiance. The ecclectic environment is fun and relaxing. Food and Beer Together Harpers is great but we all know it was once Duley's. The beer is good and onion rings are awesome. The prices are a little high for the college life, but fun and they always had some great bands playing. Try the Greek Burger, it is perfect.
Excellent Food We went to Harper's for dinner over the weekend. The food was excellent (I had the shrimp kabobs and my hubby had the roasted portobello sandwich.) The service was a little bit slow, but it was nice to go somewhere that they don't rush you out the door. Their prices are pretty comparable to other restaurants in the area. I would definitely recommend Harper's as a nice date-night restaurant. Although, more for around dinner time...later it fills up with college students intent on partying.
The best day to go to Harpers is Wednesday....but only because it is half off....and that doesnt even include everything on the menu or top-shelf drinks! The service is terrible and you're lucky if your food isn't cold when you get it! They charge a $5 cover even if there is no band or dj playing at the time. A friend of mine worked there for a while and he told me the health department came and found black mold in the ice..ewww!!! I wouldn't recommend this place anyone...stick to The Landshark, Ricks or The Post!
Go for the beer, avoid the food. I repeat: go for the beer, avoid the food. The location is convenient to campus and the outdoor tables are great when the weather's good, but the only thing to recommend the food is its relative cheapness -- relative to anywhere else in East Lansing where the food is actually decent.
Stay away, – Service, there was no service, after waiting 20 minutes to get drinks, then finding out when our dinner was served they had no napkins or silverware, upon servinng our dinner, 9 out 9 dinners cold, made wrong, onion rings and fries soggy, we were out side on deck. Went inside, very dirty, no soap in restroom, will never go there again.
Beer, patio, summer - otherwise NO – If it's a hot summer day and I'm really jonesin' for a cold micro-brew on a patio in the sun and maybe some pesto pizza - I'm going to Harper's for sure. But I KNOW that when I go I will have to pay cover to get in (even during family dinner time) and I will have to wait and wait and wait to get mediocre service.
