We just showed up. It is close to noon. The store opens at 11 a.m. We timed out trip to get ice cream before getting to the airport. The lights were on, but the windows were shut, the door was locked. We knocked and several minutes later, a guy who looked stoned or like he was sleeping came to the window and mumbled, seemingly put out because we were there for ice cream. We left without any and have a sad little one to boot. The ice cream is amazing, but it doesn't matter if the service sucks. What a waste!
The ice cream here is so fluffy, you can tell they make it fresh daily. The banana cream pie flavor was delicious!
Haven't been loving this recently. It seems that the flavors have been "dumbed down" a little. The coffee chocolate chip had only a faint taste of coffee, and the rocky road was similarly dissapointing. The queues are still healthy, so it looks like it's doing good business, but at nearly $10 for a medium cone, it'll probably be a while before I'm back. RAINBOW LOCATION IS WHERE ITS AT!!! THEY DONT SKIMP! If you want the best Handels experience this is the location to go to. They have quick, efficient, friendly service and their portions are ALWAYS on point! I live 2 minutes from the Cactus location and have visited multiple times since their grand opening and they miss the mark every time. Small portions and long wait times. Its worth the drive to go to Rainbow/Arroyo crossing!!
