We knew parking might be a challenge due to the downtown location, but luckily we found a spot just a block away from the hotel. The only downside was that the parking meter operates on Saturdays from 8 AM to 5 PM, and you can only prepay for two hours at a time. Overall, the service was decent. I live in Oakland but my dad stayed here to get me to and from surgery since he lives out of state, and I stayed a couple nights with him. The front desk staff was awesome and went above and beyond, the hotel was clean and close to a bunch of good food in Downtown and Chinatown, and I'm not sure why the other reviews talk about small rooms, the room seemed normal to me. The rooms & service are on par for the price. What is tedious is the nickel & dime you for everything. Parking? $50/night Deposit on check in despite prepaying? $75/night Wifi? $5/day Check in experience is straight up trash. You need to remove everything from your car because valet parking is the only option. You cant enter the hotel or operate the elevator without your room card, so I hope you kept that handy while unpacking & fumbling with all your belongings at the valet station. For a hotel in Oakland it was ok, The rooms were clean, service was good, included breakfast was good. Rooms were not modern but also not dated, the service people are nice and they have valet parking. Included breakfast was good and you get to make your own waffles. we did get sent to a room that was not cleaned yet, at first, but they quickly give us a new room that was clean.

Spent the night here with my husband and kids for a concert at Fox Theater. Location was good for the venue,Uber got us there in under 5 minutes. We ended up paying for the valet out of convenience, although they don’t offer in&out services so once they take your car you can’t get it back to run around the city. This worked for us but might not work for others. As far as safety goes,I never felt unsafe at the hotel or outside the theater.
