Staff were attentive. Good breakfast options, similar to other Hamptons and their competitors. Clean room and bathroom, lots of towels stocked in the bathroom. Beds were comfortable. Guest laundry is available with a card reader. No room for trailers in the parking lot; there are “no parking” and “fire lane” signs on some of the adjacent streets, but not all, if you are driving a semi truck or longer RV/trailer setup. Great hotel. Only thing I could think of that could be better is if the air conditioner thermostat wasn't governed. The fan wouldn't stay on despite me having it set to high and the room never got lower than 70 degrees no matter what number I'd choose below 70 on the thermostat. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay.
The pool area was gross. People partied there Saturday and left trash, food & drink, cigarette butts, dirty towels and trash floating in the pool. There are two lounge chairs. The mess was still there Monday morning. Not too enjoyable when surrounded by trash. Aside from that, this place is affordable & the rooms are clean.
My stay at the Hampton Inn Midland South was fine overall, but it was definitely a pretty basic hotel. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it served its purpose for a quick overnight stay. Unfortunately, the ac in my room was loud and the sink did not drain, which was a bit frustrating and something I hope gets addressed. Other than that, there wasn’t anything particularly memorable about the property.
