We have used Hampton Inns for most of our traveling for decades, and would give 5 stars for all of those. However, we were surely disappointed to arrive and find this one to be undergoing renovations! The few employees working were nice, but conditions were not good! Some furniture pieces were not in good shape at all, breakfast was skimpy, and we felt uncomfortable because there were very, very few people anywhere, so it made us feel unsafe. We were in Farmville to attend a wedding.
It is unbelievable and unacceptable that I can't control the thermostat in my room. When I asked the front desk the reply was "well that's just the way it is". My room was uncomfortable and on the warm side. I had a hard time sleeping due to the warm room. It's the first of August and you would expect to be able to control the temperature in your room. I was super disappointed by the horrible customer service that we experienced from the lady working 3-11 pm. We asked her to please place our incidentals on a separate card (as we had paid online with an online card etc) and she flat out lied and said that she could not do it.I had worked as a GM for Hilton hotels for years, so I am well aware that you can separate the incidentals with no problem. Great breakfast with hot foods available. Nice clean place. Dining area seating is old and tore up. I was there Tuesday through Saturday, and no one cleaned the room. The management was dismayed and added some Honor points to my account to make up for it. Staff was super friendly. I will return.
