This was 100% what I was looking for, calm, cute, clean, slightly out of the way, easy beach access, and great service. It has a slight flavor of Hawaii without being like a theme park or over the top kitschy resort. I visited friends staying at other hotels affiliated with our conference and each time thanked my lucky stars I picked Halepuna (it is a further walk to conference center than many others btw, but a pleasant walk nevertheless, maybe 15 to 20m vs like 10m at the Hilton).
