I recently ate at the Grotto restaurant in Highland Village. While the food was great for the most part, I don't plan to return. Good things: 1) Lobster was great - pretty much the best I've ever had 2) Good sized portions on the lobster and steak Not so good things: 1) Steak, while cooked exactly to my requested style (medium), was tough. Morris Salerno is a piece of work and his staff is the worst! My wife, who has cancer decided on the Grotto for maybe our final anniversary together,(31st of Dec). After many mess ups for over a month in reservations, menu and price, Kathy Salerno told me that if we had a problem contact her. When we got there, we were told that it may be an hour before we got seated even though it was our anniversary and she has cancer...she was very uncomfortable and needed to sit. I live in Highland Village and have been to The Grotto three times, and the very LAST time. I wont even go there for a cocktail. This place is a DUMP. Its dirty, old, outdated stinks and the bartenders have never been nice, they always seem to be in a bad mood. I cant beleave Morris can really have items on his menu that cost up to \$95. This is NOT 5 star! Put some money into your dump, and clean it up. There are lots of new reasturants opened in this area that are much nicer, dont waste your time or money. This restaurant is very nice. The food was absolutely wonderful. The service was good. The prices were high but you get what you pay for. I do think they need to purchase some new tables.
