I saw Dr. Byrkit a few years ago now, but my experience was so horrible it still pops in my mind and so I thought I should share. When I visited her office, she walked in the exam room laughing. Rather than saying hi or hello, she asks me if I know how much my drivers license said I weighed. This is the WORSE on-gyn I have EVER visited. I’m pretty sure she wants to cater to only white patient and she and her staff did their utmost best to make me feel uncomfortable, undervalued, and not welcomed. I’ve had clients switch care from this provider during pregnancy because of her condescending, dismissive, and abusive behavior before even witnessing her behavior for myself during a birth. If I could put no stars, I would. If this review could save another birthing family from medical abuse and fear-based practices that causes trauma and anxiety, it’s worth it. After reading some of these reviews about Dr.Byrkit I was terrified to go to my appointment since I am a plus size person I was sure I would be judged. I was referred to her by my primary doctor. I decided to keep the appointment and see for myself and I am extremely happy I did. She was very informative and answered all questions my husband and I asked. I was referred to Dr. Byrkit without knowing anything about her. I canceled my appointment less than 24 hours after setting the appointment due to the reviews I read online. The reason the appointment was made was for something that could potentially be serious. I do not want to go to someone who's not compassionate. A Dr. needs to be your advocate not your adversary. I was charged for canceling this appointment. For this reason and what I read, I believe I made the right decision.
