In Chicagoland, if you're looking for a vegetarian restaurant and you're tired of seitan and gardein ad infinitum, check out GREEN ZEBRA. It's upscale, but outstanding.
Green Zebra Green Zebra isn't the kind of restaurant I'd choose to frequent very often, or perhaps even again. However, the food was quite good, if a bit precious, had interesting bursts of flavors, & was beautifully & artistically presented. The focus is vegetarian although there was one salmon dish on the menu, and the servings are tapas sized. We ordered three each & by the end of the meal were full, something I didn't expect. I can't begin to list our choices but will note combinations such as caramel/thyme ice cream & r... read more

Great vegetarian experience It's an unusual but fun place. You really have to look to the crowd to see who you are taking here because well..it's a vegetarian, vegan restaurant! I LOVED it,simply because I don't feel there are enough of these around and though it is a little upscale and pricy, it was a great experience
Incredible cuisine experience... I ate from Green Zebra's fourth anniversary prix-fixe menu, and it was like a far more pleasant version of Alinea (where the 24-course tour nearly destroyed my digestive system). The food was fresh, inventive and inspired--if you're under the impression that vegetarian cuisine is just a bland, over-spiced mess this restaurant will be a true conversion experience. Even on Sunday night it was packed, so I'd recommend making a reservation well in advance. Service was friendly and attentive.
Amazing Brunch – Wow, this was one of the best brunches I've ever had. While I am not a vegetarian, I prefer the veggies to the meat and wanted to entertain a vegetarian friend who was in town for the weekend. We were not disappointed. We got to the restaurant at 10:15 on a Sunday morning, 15 minutes prior to their opening. I may be an early bird but 10:30 seems kind of late time to open. Regardless, we were seated and served almost immediately. I had expected to wait a long time for my food but the kitchen and wait staff wa... read more
Vegetarian Organic I think Green Zebra really has something. It is a tasteful, yet quaint restaurant with excellent vegetarian dishes. Seeing all of the different types of tomatoes they use (including the Green Zebra) is fascinating. The dishes are colorful and interesting.
A great vegetarian restaurant – I was in Chicago to see some music, but I was sick as a dog, barely able to taste anything and hopped up on day-quil. Still, Green Zebra tasted wonderful, and left me and my meat-eating buddy, completely satisfied. I had the 5-course tasting menu for just $55. Serious! The dishes were classic in style: greens, consomme, risotto, crepes, and dessert. Simple, done well. I will definitely eat here every time I am in Chicago. One of the country's best vegetarian restaurants.
Yum – I had never been to a vegetarian restaurant before so I had no idea what to expect... despite the fact that I was a vegetarian for 9 years. I guess I was used to being a vegetarian in a carnivore's world. I went here for my birthday and it was fantastic. The food was great and the waiter took the time to explain what everything was as I was used to eating pasta and fruit back in my veggie days. We had this egg thing, I have no idea what it was but I kinda crave it now and then. I would definitely go back again adn I re... read more
