Tired of his 5 a.m. forays, a young farmer decided he had milked his last cow. He conceived the idea to build a roadside sandwich stand. This sandwich stand on Somerset Pike (Route 985) in Jennerstown evolved into the Laurel HIghlands landmark it is today, known as Green Gables Restaurant, a Wine Spectator award winner.
