My mother took my brother there yesterday. He's 18 and autistic, high functioning autism at that. He banged his head on the car door just so they would take him in after threatening to kill himself with scissors and before that with a belt or zip ties around his neck. My review was removed for some reason or another but I feel like people deserve to be warned about this place if they plan to either stay here or admit their loved ones, so I'm not above writing a new one. I've been admitted here a few times and one thing I can say consistently is that the day staff are wonderful people. They do their best to make your stay tolerable in the face of needing to be admitted to somewhere so distressing in the first place and are generally very kind and understanding. The staff is incompetent and do not know how to deal with mental health disorders. My mom attempted to admit my brother (who has schizophrenia) to this facility to prevent a crisis from escalating into something worse. My brother was turned away from this hospital and 2 others. He then became irritated and we had to let him return to his home. I had a terrible experience at this facility in 2017. During an emergency psychiatric detention, I was physically abused, including being choke slammed by staff member Harold Aldridge, leaving me unable to rotate my head for over a week. I was involuntarily committed based on false information from social worker Katy Marshall, resulting in ongoing psychological, reputational, and financial harm, including a period of homelessness after losing my job.
