My mother was 90 years old, had dementia, and COPD. Last year she had broken her hip, and although we believe that she was just shedding the virus, she was diagnosed with COVID. For 30 days she was kept in isolation, which accentuated her dementia. Her condition worsened, and because the hospital and rehab were short staffed, she was alone, confused, and desperate.
