My husband had a very small (approximately 1/8-1/4 inch) bump removed from the surface of his knee a couple of years ago. This office was in network with our insurance. Unfortunately, and without any discussion with, or approval from us this “tissue specimen” was sent to an out-of-state pathologist for evaluation, who was out of network. The charge was $1200!! I am giving GI Dermatology a 2 because I had no "problem" per say. The facility is clean, the people who work there are very nice. However, I drove my infant son an hour and paid for an expensive appointment to be told that the large rash on his back was eczema, which in my experience is another word for "rash." (You can argue with me there if you'd like - I had personal experience with eczema for 10 years.) The reason I scheduled the appointment was to discover the CAUSE of said rash, not to be just prescribed steroid cream... read more

Daughter developed unexplained rash on face. Her normal dermatologist isn’t in GI until Wednesday so got her in here. Got a PA. Took a 5 second look, told her she didn’t know what it was and we will give her a cream. Might go away soon, might not. Not really sure. My daughter started getting upset and I tried asking several questions and the PA got very aprubt and rude and basically rushed us out. Just an FYI after that appointment I called our normal dermatologist and they squeezed us in on a Friday afternoon at End of day ... read more
