Soild Care, No Sales Pitch – I just finished my eye exam with Dr. Strauss and I have to say that she was great. She was professional, quick, and honest. In addition, she was great about letting me know what she was doing and why for each exam. It turned out that I could use a very low prescription for specific situations, but instead of going into a salespitch (as I've seen at other places) ,she very honestly advised me that I would really only need glasses to drive at night and that they probably weren't necessary. Great contact lenses – I was having problems with my contacts for over one year. I finally went to Gramercy Park Optical after a friend recommended it. I had a thorough exam, and then a contact lens exam. I was fit with the newest Accuvue lens, and tried monovision, to help me read. It is working great. They also changed my solutions which they felt was making me uncomfortable. These lenses are the best I ever had, and the new solution seems to be working well. Fab eye care! – I recently had an eye exam at Gramercy Park Optical, as I do each year. I have been going there for about 5 years now and find I get excellent care. The examinations are incredibly thorough and the doctor really listens to my needs, always fitting me with the newest contacts. They took my vision insurance plan and I got gorgeous Prada frames for my new glasses. Terrible Service – I agree that I felt forced to purchase things from them. I went in for an eye exam for new glasses. When I was done I was billed $400 for a contact exam that I didn't ask for! My total bill was $795!! I only wanted an eye exam $15 and new lenses $120 I already had lenses. I will never go there again ever.
Horrible customer service, do not go here for contact fittings – I went to GPO to get fitted for contacts - as my health insurance doesn't cover it, I was not happy with paying out of pocket, but got over it. Dr. Miro fitted me for a pair of contacts different from my previous pair, when these new contacts were too strong and I had to return to get re-fitted, the staff were not pleasant or accomodating. TOP LEVEL!!!!!! – When I first began having "fuzzy" eye sight I went to one of the top specialists in NY. I'm a professional photographer and need my eye sight to be perfect. After the initial exam, the doctor sent me to Dr.Warren Zimmerman. It was the best thing ANY doctor has ever done for me!!! Great doctor, contacts, and glasses! – I first called Gramercy Park Optical because my eye was red one morning, and I found them on my insurance website. The receptionist was very kind, and squeezed me in to see the doctor that day. Dr. Strauss was very friendly, examined my eyes, and gave me some drops to treat my eye infection. She suggested I return a week later to have a full eye exam and change my contact lenses. Billing/Insurance Problems – As I am somewhat new to the city I choose Gramercy Park Optical for both it's nice office and it's high end frames. However my experience there was less than stellar. They did not include an eye dialation and basic eye health check (I assumed to be standard for an annual eye exam) and I had to make a return appt.
