I was in here once, and the manager, Eric was beyond rude shouting at me and telling me I had an attitude. Another employee told me, repeatedly to "Get the f-ck out of here." and another told me "You are the kind of person who gets on the internet and complains." I wasn't, but I am now. The bad reviews all around the internet are earned. There are other shops a couple of blocks away, try them instead.
Poor jobs – Brought in 4 times and they were still asking me they need another different parts. Brought into a different shop and they say what they did and told me it is a poor job they did.
Very pleasant horribly inept people – I read the mostly poor reviews but figured I would still give them a try since they were close-ish to my house. My bottom bracket started making an awful noise. Took my bike in on a Monday evening. Very pleasant manager said he would have the mechanic look at it first thing in the morning and let me know what all needed to be replaced. It's all about Taj – I was blown away by the service I received from Taj at Gotham Bikes. I started my search online, but the bike I wanted had to be ordered through the store. When I called and they didn't have the bike I thought I wanted available, Taj began guiding me through the process of purchasing the right bike for my husband. Worst customer service. – This is one of those places that makes you wonder why they are still in business. If you don't want to give your customer's the time of day, then what use are you. If I didn't need assistance I would just order online. This place is way overprced. For components, expect to pay at least double. I went with a list of things I wanted to order, but I figured I'd get it through them and have them install it. Honest and Kind – So I had an accident on the West Side parkway and a different bike store told me my wheel was shot, had to be replaced/special ordered, and it would cost me 150 dollars. I called around looking for this "special" wheel and Gotham had it: but not only that, when I brought my bike to them, they WERE ABLE TO true the wheel (instead of replacing it) and charged me 20 bucks for it! Plus it took them a half hour on a very busy Saturday. Yay Gotham Bikes!
don't use these guys – i started taking my bike to gotham because it's near my house, and who likes to walk your bike all the way across town to get it fixed? their only pro is proximity. the guys there rude and don't even know what they're doing. or they do and they just try to get you to spend more money... i had a flat tire that they supposedly fixed... changed the tube but didnt clear the obstruction, so i just got another flat. which they then recommended to me that i get a new tire (when it was their fault for not havi... read more
Don't shop here! – There are one or two decent workers there BUT the management is dishonorable and so is the owner. I sent him an email regarding a credit that they owed me and they NEVER even responded to me. How rude!
They Really Don't Want Your Business !! – I had a problem with Gotham Bikes where I returned some merchandise and they gave me store credit. They said I did not need any receipt and that my credit amount would " stay in the system" . II didn't need anything for over 2 years and when I tried to get the credit they said they changed the system and that my credit was wiped out. I understand that it was a while before I used the credit but they wouldn't budge on even trying to work out anything and in essence said " screw yourse... read more
