My visit was sudden and to the point. I was provided the facts & told the importance of my situation. Dr. Gorum said he was confident in what was needed & assured me I would be ok. He look me in the eyes and gave me his most honest professional opinion, without a blink in his eyes. He said he wanted to schedule my surgery on this particular day bc this was his surgery days; plus he was on call that weekend so if I needed him, he would be on duty to take care of me. Since I was his patient. Dr. Gorum last words of assurances ... read more
Could not be more disappointed with Gorum. The reviews on here about him spending little to no time meeting with patients, hearing about their issues, understanding their pain is 100% accurate. In the two office visits I had with him he was in the examining room with me for a total of maybe 5 minutes. And one of those visits he was reviewing an MRI. How can you skim over an MRI and make a decision about someone's healthcare in that matter of time? Everyone's issues and needs are different and anything involving your spine is... read more
Awful, he said he may not make it better but failed to mention he would put me into never ending pain. Very arrogant. Came i , shook my husbands hand , sat down with his back to me . I was the patient. When I said had terrible pain, he almost seemed angry, said he could’nt do anything else and sent me to pain mgt. he said”i told you it may not help” but he failed to tell me he would make it so much worst. I would have weighed my options . Do not use him. Go to Atlanta Birmingham anywhere else ! I feel like Im ruined and it m... read more
My Dr ordered an MRI for my neck and referred me for "likely" surgery. When I took my MRI results to Dr. Gorum he seemed rushed, looked at it and said everything looked "normal" and my discs were like an old couch due to age (I'm 45). He said, "You just have carpal tunnel." I insisted something was wrong so he sent me for a nerve test. When we got the results he looked at the SAME MRI and said I was in bad shape and needed 3 discs surgically replaced! And forget asking questions...
when he comes in room always seems to have his foot pointed to the door. has never spent more than 4 to 5 minutes with a patient. Any information he gives you is on a "here's the information take it or leave it" basis and walks out of the room. Has NO time for questions. I have never seen him sit down and act like he really wants to know how you are. He has assembly line attitude toward patients. NEXT UP !
My visit with Dr. Gorum was one of the worst experiences that I've ever had with any doctor. My daughter, who is a nurse, went with me to the appointment and we both felt that we had waisted our time. I was referred by my neurologist because he said I had Tarlov Cysts on my spine. Dr Gorum basically walked in and spent two minutes in the room with me and told me that Tarlov Cysts are not symptomatic and walked out. Undoubtedly HE needs to do his research.
Dr Gorum has done surgery twice on my cervical spine. Once in 2003 for a ruptured disk with good results and again in 2015 with a more acute problem after a fall that had affected my ability to lift my right arm ruptured disk with nerve root compression...today almost 2 yrs later I have full use of my arm again and my neck has full range of motion. He was straightforward and knowledgeable a great surgeon in my book
Very rude! Acts like he does not what so ever. Basically told me the symptoms I had were symptoms with no problem. When I know for a fact I have a bulging disk. Was told it was normal that people walk around like that every day. And because my pain is not on the same side as the disk there is no problem. He would not look at the x rays that showed my problems looked at a mri that was over a year old. I was treated like a fool and a drug seeker. I only want relief from the everyday pain
Dr. Gorum was friendly and professional when I visited his Opelika-Auburn office. He reviewed my MRI results he was honest and told me that I did not have to have surgery. His PA was very professional and thorough too. She scheduled me for physical therapy and suggested I continue with my chiropractic decompression therapy before going to the physical therapy. I was so relieved since I was afraid to have back surgery. I would recommend Dr. Gorum and his staff to anyone with back problems.
