Came in with acute knee pain, mri showed some muscle damage, my knee cap being out of place, swelling in multiple areas. Dr Nuber was entirely dismissive. Through his notes, through talking to me, he showed zero care in me as a patient. No explanation of mri (I had to talk to a different dr for that), when I asked about long term if the knee is going to be an issue, he just brushed me off with that’s just how my body is with zero long term plans or anything. If he was a good doctor at some point, it’s evident he checked out. I would see someone else if you have the option or at least want a dr that isn’t checked out. Northwestern usually has decent staff, but this guy brings the entire place down.

Dr. Nuber reconstructed my left knee in 1989 while I was in the minors leagues with the Chicago Cubs. I had a complete tear in my ACL and partial tear in my MCL due to a collision at home plate. I was a catcher. Dr. Nuber performed a patella tendon graft and it healed amazingly well. He communicated extremely well, was confident while giving me hope that I would be able to play at a high level. He left the MCL alone and said it would be fine, which is has been. I went on to play 14 more years professionally, 11 in MLB. During the time it took me to rehab I taught myself to switch hit, so there was a silver lining. My knee still feels great. I had two minor clean outs after the ‘98 and ‘00 seasons, but otherwise it’s been fantastic. Thanks Dr. Nuber!

Dr. Nuber misdiagnosed my knee injury and performed unnecessary surgery. When things continued to get worse, he told me I had RSD as a complication of the surgery and wrote me off. Thank goodness I found a competent doctor for a second opinion. No RSD, but a lot of damage caused by Nuber. It has been a long road recovering from that damage and unfortunately, my knee will never be the same. I’m trying to accept that my running days came to a premature end, which should never have been the case.

Dr. Nuber surgically repaired both of my rotator cuffs (a couple years apart) His procedure brought tremendous relief to the daily pain I was having. I call him a genius.

Dr. Nuber was very professional and no nonsense but still came across as warm and caring. He seemed to be an excellent technician and was able to repair what was a very painful severely torn meniscus in a very arthritic environment to an almost pain free result. Was very pleased with my experience with Dr.. Nuber and would recommend him.

A very friendly, emphatic and knowledgeable man. Made me feel comfortable in doing surgery with him.
